8th Grade Concert band

Mr. Michael Morel, Band Director
 
8th Grade Band students will perform at two to three times per year: School concerts will be in January and  May. Additionally, the group will perform for adjudication in the spring. The fundamentals of reading and performing music will be taught, reviewed, and reinforced during rehearsals using a varied repertoire of music and supplemental material. Students will also become familiar with the composer, culture, musical theory, and history as it relates to the repertoire.

• Does a performance have to be public to be meaningful?
• How does the style of music affect the attitude of the audience?
• What musical elements are required to perform a composition as a composer intended?  
• What roles do the student and conductor play in the musical interpretation of a composition?
• What role does your section play in the ensemble?
• What role does your part play in your section?
• How do the elements of music affect expression in music?
• Why do we like the music we like?
• What elements are required to create a characteristic sound on your instrument?
